Highlights
Douglas N. Larson joined SoCal IP Law Group LLP in December 2007, as Of Counsel. He has specialized in the practice of intellectual property law since 1980, practicing in Washington, D.C. from 1980 – 1993 and in the Los Angeles area from 1993 – present.

 

Doug’s patent practice has involved a variety of technologies including medical devices, equipment and processes, office equipment and supplies, manufacturing equipment and processes, hydraulic equipment, electrical and electromechanical devices, semiconductor fabrication, software, optics, business methods, gaming, Internet, food processing and industrial designs. In addition to preparing and prosecuting original, reissue, and reexamination applications in the U.S. and internationally, Doug has worked with clients in strategizing, handling and developing their patent portfolios, rendering patentability, infringement, right-to-use and validity opinions, conducting due diligence investigations, assisting in IP litigation actions, acting as an expert witness and negotiating and drafting license and various other agreements.

 

Doug was an American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) representative to the Meeting of Experts, Draft New Act for Revision of The Hague Agreement Concerning the International Deposit of Industrial Designs, Geneva, Switzerland (1997, 1998). From 1988-1990, Doug chaired the AIPLA Inventor Relations Committee and from 1996-1998 the AIPLA Industrial Designs Committee.

 

From 1977-1980, Doug was the Senior Legal Editor of The United States Patents Quarterly where he selected, summarized and indexed patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition law decisions.

 

He was a speaker on “The Impact of Merck v. Integra” in July 2005; and he authored “Nanotechnology Developments in the USPTO” SSD IP Update (June 2005) and “On the Cutting Edge: Nanotechnology and Squire Sanders,” SSD IP Update (February 2005).

 

In 1996 and 1997 Doug was a patent claims drafting instructor for the Patent Resources Group.

 

He is a member of the AIPLA, the American Bar Association Section on Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law, and the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association.
